Milwaukee meetings set about post office closures
MILWAUKEE — Three public meetings are scheduled in Milwaukee about the possible closure or consolidation of U.S. Postal Service stations.
The agency lost $8.5 billion last year and is facing an even larger deficit this year. Business has been shrinking because of the movement of first-class mail to the Internet and the struggling economy, which has limited advertising mail.
The postal service is considering closing or consolidating five inner city Milwaukee stations.
The first two meetings are Wednesday and Thursday. One is scheduled next week Thursday, too.
