Judson University sports report
The Judson University women’s soccer team continued its unbeaten streak this past week with wins over No. 16 Trinity Christian College and Holy Cross College.
Facing their third nationally ranked team this season, the Eagles upset Trinity Christian, 3-1, to stay undefeated in the CCAC. Jenna Steffensen led the team with 2 goals and an assist in the second half scoring in the 71st and 86th minute and assisting Kelly Creager on the game-winning goal in the 80th minute. Judson then won 10-1 over Holy Cross to move to 14-1-1 and 8-0 in the CCAC.
Men’s soccer: Continuing its push for a CCAC regular-season championship, Judson earned wins over Trinity Christian College, 2-0, and Holy Cross College, 6-1. Martin Khoshaba and Mike Tobie each scored 2 goals on the week. Neil Thompson earned his fourth shutout of the year against Trinity Christian College. He was also named the CCAC Defensive Player of the Week last week. The men’s soccer team is now 11-5 and 7-1 in the CCAC.
Volleyball: Kirsten Kohlstedt had three double-doubles on the week to lead the volleyball team. Judson fell to 9-23 and 3-6 in the CCAC.
Cross country: The men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich., where the women finished 14th of 33 teams and the men were 20th of 30 teams. Sarah Miller and Gabby Nystrom led the women’s team with 44th and 45th place finishes with their times of 19:20. Nate Nevius led the men’s team in 68th place with a time of 26:29 in the 8K race.
