Woman killed by train in Naperville, suicide presumed
Naperville police say a woman sitting on the railroad tracks was struck and killed by an eastbound commuter train late Saturday night.
Police are not identifying the name of the woman, who was a minor.
She sat on the tracks roughly 500 feet east of the Loomis Street pedestrian crossing, authorities said in a news release. The accident occurred at 11:40 p.m.
Naperville Police Sgt. Gregg Bell said there are no indications that any foul play was involved in the accident.
“It appears to be suicide, but it’s still an ongoing investigation,” Bell said.
The DuPage County Coroner’s office is also conducting an investigation, which is expected to take three to four weeks to complete.
Metra’s train service was disrupted for a short time after the accident but was back to normal Sunday morning.
