Holbrook resigns from Illinois House

BELLEVILLE — Democrat Tom Holbrook is resigning from the Illinois House to head the Illinois Pollution Control Board.

Holbrook announced his decision Monday. The representative from Belleville says he’ll be stepping down soon from the post he’s held since 1995.

Holbrook says he’s enjoyed representing the constituents in his district and his new job will allow him to serve Illinoisans statewide.

While in the Illinois House, Holbrook served on the House’s Environment and Energy Committee. His appointment to the Pollution Control Board is effective immediately.

The Democratic Party chairmen of St. Clair and Madison counties will appoint someone to serve the remainder of Holbrook’s legislative term.
