Kokomo doctor faces meth possession charge
KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo physician has been arrested after police say a nurse found methamphetamine in his possession while he was a patient at an Indianapolis hospital.
Dr. Silvio J. Sanchez was being held Saturday in the Howard County Jail in Kokomo on a Marion County arrest warrant. He faces a preliminary charge of possession of meth. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
The Kokomo Tribune reports that Sanchez was arrested Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. Sanchez practices internal medicine.
A probable cause affidavit alleges a nurse at Wishard Memorial Hospital’s emergency room found a bag containing four smaller bags of meth and other items while checking Sanchez’s property according to hospital policy. It wasn’t clear why Sanchez was in the hospital. Sanchez lives in Indianapolis.
