More UP Railroad work planned for Oct. 28-31 in Lombard
LOMBARD, Illinois—The Union Pacific Railroad will be doing work on their signal system on the right-of-way near the Grace Street crossing starting in the evenings of Oct. 28-31. This will be a 24-hour-a-day operation.
Flagmen will be present at the Grace Street crossing and the trains will be sounding their horns due to the crews working close to the track infrastructure.
This work on the right of way will result in the trains running at slower speeds through the Village of Lombard and the public may experience delays at crossings. It is important to note that in order to ensure the safety of the crews at this crossing, train horns will be sounded in compliance with the Federal Horn Rule.
Additional details can be found on the Horn Rule at www.uprr.com/reus/roadxing/industry/process/horn_quiet.shtml.
