Northwestern expands outpatient liver clinic

MOLINE -- Residents of the Quad Cities in Illinois and Iowa will now have more access to outpatient liver clinic services.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital has further expanded outside of Chicago with a new clinic in Moline. It'll serve potential transplant candidates, those awaiting a transplant and those seeking consultations for advanced or complex liver disease.

Dr. Steven Flamm is the program's medical director. He says the expansion will have a big benefit to patients in the area and minimize trips to Chicago.

It's called the Northwestern Liver Transplant Evaluation Clinic and is the sixth Northwestern transplant satellite clinic in the Midwest. Other locations include Joliet, Oak Brook, and Portage, Ind.
