Chicago Architecture Foundation offers site tours
From downtown high-rise buildings to neighborhood landmarks, a Chicago architecture group is offering free behind-the-scenes looks at dozens of locations citywide.
The Chicago Architecture Foundation is calling it “Open House Chicago 2011.” It’s being held Oct. 15-16 and is free to the public.
The group will offer self-guided tours of some of the city’s most important and interesting buildings in several parts of the city. Those include downtown, Bronzeville, Garfield Park and Little Village.
Some of the highlights include the original Sears Tower in the North Lawndale neighborhood and an apartment building that looks like a castle with a Moorish-style basement swimming pool.
