Wisconsin balsam fir selected as White House Christmas tree
NESHKORO, Wis. #8212; White House groundskeepers have settled on a Christmas tree. It will come from a farm in Marquette County.White House staff visited Schroeder#146;s Foreevergreens in Neshkoro Monday and selected an 18 and a-half foot balsam fir for the Blue Room.The farm#146;s owners, Tom and Sue Schroeder, earned the honor after winning a national contest sponsored by the National Christmas Tree Association. White House grounds superintendent Dale Haney tells WLUK-TV that between tours and parties during the holiday season, more than 100,000 people will likely see the tree.It will be the seventh White House Christmas tree harvested from Wisconsin since the contest started in 1966.
