Peoria Rivermen sink Chicago Wolves

PEORIA — The Chicago Wolves came up short in their bid for a third Illinois Lottery Cup win in a 50-hour stretch, falling to the Peoria Rivermen 5-2 Sunday night at Carver Arena.

Kevin Connauton and Mark Mancari both scored their second goals of the season for the Wolves (2-3-0-2), who played their third game in as many nights.

Jordan Schroeder and Victor Oreskovich assisted on Connauton’s goal, and Dean Strong and Lombard native Bill Sweatt recorded assists on Mancari’s goal.

Goaltender Eddie Lack (1-2-0-2), making his first appearance since shutting out Rockford on Friday night, stopped 32 shots.

The Rivermen (2-3-1-1), also playing for the third night in a row, received 2 goals from 2011 AHL all-star T.J. Hensick.
