Wolves fall, but coach Craig MacTavish not worried
New Chicago Wolves coach Craig MacTavish is still looking for his first win.But MacTavish remains optimistic after the Wolves dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Milwaukee Admirals at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont witnessed by 11,321.#147;We were so disappointed after yesterday#146;s game in Milwaukee (a 4-2 loss),#148; said MacTavish, who has taken the helm in the Wolves#146; first season as the Vancouver Canucks#146; top affliate. #147;This game qualifies as a giant step forward. We just missed on some key opportunities late in the game.#148;What looked to be a tie-breaking goal by Wolves defenseman Kevin Connauton was wiped off the board by a high-sticking call against teammate Dean Strong early in the third period.The Wolves (0-2-2) are by no means pushing the panic button.#147;We have had a couple of shootout issues early in this season,#148; MacTavish said. #147;It takes time to find the best style for your team, how to plug in the right personnel at the right times.#148;The Admirals opened the scoring when Kyle Wilson converted a Wolves#146; turnover on an assist by Victor Bartley.The Wolves responded when Admirals goalie Jeremy Smith tripped attempting to clear the puck from the boards, leaving Matt Clackson with an open net for a 1-1 tie.But turnovers continued to plague the Wolves when the Admirals#146; Chris Mueller intercepted a pass and drilled a goal for a 2-1 first-period lead.#147;Turnovers turned the first period around,#148; MacTavish said. #147;There were some encouraging signs.
