Thanks to all who work to fight ALS

The mechanism, or cause, of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) has long eluded scientists and prevented the development of effective therapies. However, a new study from Les Turner ALS Foundation researcher Dr. Teepu Siddique and his team at Northwestern University has identified a common cause of all forms of ALS.

This is an exciting time for the ALS community worldwide — and locally, patients and their families and friends had the opportunity to celebrate together at the Les Turner ALS Foundation's 10th Annual ALS Walk4 Life on Sept. 10. This year, 235 teams participated, and we are proud to report that the event has raised more than $720,000 for the Les Turner ALS Foundation.

On behalf of the Les Turner ALS Foundation, I want to thank everyone involved in making the event a huge success, including patients, relatives, friends, donors, corporate sponsors and media partners. Your support helps keep hope alive.
