Find a furry friend at animal adoption

The animal adoption event, "It's All About The Paws," returns to St. Charles during the Festival of the Fox. Last year, the event raised more than $3,500 for the rescues involved. Eighteen dogs found new homes and more than 500 people attended the event.

The adoption event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12, at Baker Memorial Park, off Main Street and Fifth Avenue in downtown St. Charles.

All proceeds from the event will go to the participating animal rescues. This money will be used to keep strays off the streets and any medical attention the animals need. It also will be used for supplies such as food, bowls, towels, etc. The goal is to exceed last year's donations of $3,500 to distribute to the rescue agencies.

An estimated four million dogs and cats are euthanized every year. Without animal rescues these animals are looking at rough and possibly short lives. With your donation you can help put an end to their suffering.

The "It's All About The Paws" event is getting many of the local shelters involved to help as many animals as possible. Participating shelters include 4 Paws 4 U 4 Ever, Players for Pits, TAILS Humane Society, Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue and more.

The event will feature fun activities for guests and their pets or newly adopted pets. Included are raffle prizes at $1 per ticket; T-shirt sales for $15.

They also will have many opportunities to volunteer. To participate, email Erika Seibert at erika.seibert@yahoo.com.

All proceeds go to the animal rescues that are participating. If you like to donate, visit www.gofundme.com/255rhcc or on Facebook at It's All About The Paws: Adoption Event.
