North Aurora drinking party busted
North Aurora police charged a dozen people with various offenses, after breaking up an underage drinking party Tuesday night.
Police were called to the 700 block of Hartfield Drive at 9:48 p.m. after a neighbor reported a home was being burglarized.
Instead, police found a party, from which several people fled.
Those caught were issued ordinance violation citations.
Jennifer R. Mader, 18, of the 1300 block of Burnham Lane, Batavia, was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to a police report.
Also charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol were five other juvenile females β two from St. Charles and one from Geneva, Batavia and Aurora. The St. Charles girl, 17, also was charged with obstructing a peace officer.
Those who fled the scene and refused to stop are receiving ordinance citations by mail. Police will not release their names until they believe they have received the notices, probably by sometime next week, according to Lt. Scott Buziecki. The other partygoers gave their names to police.
They included 19-year-old men from Big Rock and Yorkville and 18-year-old from Naperville, a 17-year-old male from Yorkville, and two juvenile females from St. Charles. All were charged with obstructing a peace officer.
Fines for the citations range from $50 to $750.
Police said the homeowners were not present.
North Aurora police want βto spread the word that this type of thing will not be tolerated around here. Nobody was hurt as a result of the incident, but we all know the tragedy that can happen after teenagers, alcohol, and vehicles are mixed,β Buziecki wrote in the news release.
