Buffalo Grove hosts Oct. 2 diabetes walk

Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, the signature fundraising walk of the American Diabetes Association, will take place Sunday, Oct. 2 at Didier Farms, 16678 W. Aptakisic Road, in Buffalo Grove.

Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m. The event will be emceed by Big John Howell from WIND 560 AM, and after the walk participants can stay to enjoy snacks provided by Whole Foods and listen to Northbrook Garage Band, which will play at 11 a.m. Event sponsor, Walgreens, will be on site with their custom-equipped bus and staff to conduct free health testing for cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels and waist circumference. The tests are valued at $100 per person and may help provide adults with a critical foundation for early disease detection and prevention.
