Warren-Newport library closure:

Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee will close to the public starting today through Oct. 16 for installation of new lighting, carpeting, wiring and paint. Also staff departments and all collections and shelving will be moved during that time. Full service reopens at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17. Officials said the Warren-Newport library staff will get into the community with extra bookmobile appearances and programs. In addition to 55 regular neighborhood stops, the bookmobile will venture to different areas. Those stops include: LDS Church at 411 N. O’Plaine Road, Gurnee, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m., starting Tuesday; and Jewel-Osco at 6509 W. Grand, Gurnee, on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m., starting Friday. Family drop-in story time will be at Viking Park Dance Hall on Old Grand Avenue in Gurnee at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23.
