Lake County foresters plan an open house
The Lake County Forest Preserve District will host an open house Oct. 6 to receive public input for the Dutch Gap Area Master Plan.
That plan is part of a consolidated planning effort for Dutch Gap, Ethel’s Woods, Pine Dunes, Prairie Stream and Raven Glen forest preserves, which are north and south of Route 173, between Deep Lake and Hunt Club roads in north and central Lake County.
The event is set for 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pine Dunes Forest Preserve, 17907 W. Edwards Road, near Old Mill Creek.
When complete, the Dutch Gap Area Master Plan will outline recreation activities, education programming and habitat restoration that may be implemented at these neighboring preserves. The master plan also will consider potential recreation and habitat connections between the preserves.
Information about the preserves will be on display. In an informal setting, staff will gather feedback to aid in developing the plan. Attendees will be able to provide comments about their ideas for the preserves.
If you are unable to attend the open house but would like to ask questions or provide input, contact Susan Hall at (847) 968-3270 or shall@LCFPD.org.
