Quinn highlights glass manufacturer at Ideas Week

Gov. Pat Quinn put the spotlight on a glass manufacturer as part of Chicago Ideas Week.

The weeklong innovation event is meant to share companies’ best practices and spark new ideas. The roster of events focuses not only on specific companies but also includes such high-profile speakers as former President Bill Clinton and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The event led Tuesday by Quinn focused on manufacturing at Engineered Glass Products. They’re a leading manufacturer of a heat-reflective glass that goes on the inside of self-cleaning oven doors.

Officials at the 140-employee company praised Chicago as a location because it’s at a crossroads of rail lines and highways and has an international airport. While company officials say they don’t like Illinois’ recent income tax increase, they’re staying put.
