Baby found floating in Mississippi River

WINONA, Minn. — Minnesota law enforcement officials are investigating the death of a baby found floating in the Mississippi River.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says the body was reported at about 2:20 p.m. Monday. The baby was recovered from the river and transported to the Dakota County Medical examiner in Hastings for an autopsy.

Brand says more details may be released later Tuesday.

The Winona Daily News reports reports the sheriff’s department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating.
