GOP county chair worries Lugar will siphon funds
INDIANAPOLIS — A central Indiana Republican Party chairman says he’s worried that a fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar may siphon funds from a mayoral candidate.
Howard County Republican Party Chairman Craig Dunn tells the Kokomo Tribune he’s concerned that Lugar’s fundraiser this week in Kokomo could hurt fundraising efforts by Kokomo mayoral candidate Scott Kern.
Dunn is supporting State Treasurer Richard Mourdock’s attempt to unseat Lugar next year.
Lugar is scheduled to visit Kokomo Thursday. His political director David Willkie says the senator’s visit will help strengthen fundraising efforts for local candidates by drawing out more Republicans.
