People must take back government
A couple of things.
First, three cheers for the Arizona governor and legislature. It is about time someone has taken a stand on the illegal immigration problem. In order to make this scenario work, we also need to secure our borders. This will also help to keep terrorists out of the country. Let's enforce the laws we have on the books, rather than enact new ones that forgive people for breaking the ones we have.
Second, three cheers for Wayne Oras Sr. and his Letter to the editor published on April 25. I agree, there is no poverty in this country.
However, I think we need to stop some of the free rides our government gives to people. This is the land of opportunity, not the land of the free ride.
I believe we should do everything we can to care for children under 18, the aged over 65, the truly disabled, and all of our veterans. Anyone else that makes a living from the federal or state governments needs to work for it.
There are thousands of jobs that these people can do to make a difference in society. If we are going to give them money anyway, make them do something to earn it.
Third, this country was founded as a democratic republic, of the people, for the people, by the people. It is obvious to me that our elected representatives do not reflect the desires of the majority of the people. It is time to remove from office those that do not represent the majority and elect the ones that do.
If they don't do what you expect, vote them out at the next election. Get involved with the process. If you don't, you get what you deserve.
