Nina, Pinta replicas dock in Kenosha through weekend

KENOSHA, Wis. — Columbus sailed the ocean blue back in 1492, and now visitors in Kenosha can see just how he did it.

Replicas of two Christopher Columbus ships are docked until Sunday at the Kenosha Yacht Club.

Organizers say the replica of the Nina (NEEN'-yah) is the most historically accurate replica ever built. The replica of the Pinta is larger than the original to provide more space for visitors.

Columbus sailed the original Nina across the Atlantic on his three voyages to the New World beginning in 1492. The Pinta was on the first voyage, as was the Santa Maria.

The ships will be open every day through Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students.
