12U Stampede earn fifth place in Cooperstown
The 12U Barrington Stampede competed in the National Baseball Tournament in Cooperstown, N.Y., July 30-Aug. 4. Out of 104 teams, the Stampede placed fifth overall.
The team beat the nationally recognized Wisconsin All-Stars 16-10 in the Sweet 16 to advance to the Elite 8. They lost in the Elite 8 to the eventual National Cooperstown champions, South Oakland A’s out of Michigan.
The Barrington Stampede play regular season games in the Mid Suburban Baseball League, based out of Elk Grove. This fifth-place finish is the highest by a team from the MSBL.
