Elgin High’s Parent University focuses on ninth grade

Entering high school is a big step for students and their parents. The change from the world of middle school to high school can be intimidating for everyone.
To help ease this transition, Elgin High School is offering its seventh Parent University for Elgin High parents of ninth-graders from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at the school, 1200 Maroon Drive.
Sessions will cover: “Computer Literacy,” “Improving Family Communication,” “Health for Your High School Student” and “Elgin High School Support Systems.”
Sessions are offered in English and Spanish.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. There will be a breakfast prepared by the Elgin High School Clumsy Chef High School Restaurant and day care will be provided.
Registration for this event is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Sept 24; parents enter through Door 1. The sessions are facilitated by Elgin High and U-46 faculty and staff, as well as community agencies.
