Man charged with embezzling from employees

MADISON, Wis. — A business owner from Waterloo is accused of embezzling nearly $57,000 from his employees.

A federal grand jury indictment returned in Madison accuses 63-year-old Allen Howe of withholding employee contributions to their retirement account from December 2006 to September 2009. Allen Howe & Son does excavation work.

The charge is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor. Phone numbers for Howe and his business have been disconnected.
