ComEd, Wheeling residents to meet this week

After heated talks between residents and a representative from ComEd at a Wheeling village board meeting last month, the electric company is working with residents to resolve their issues.

At the Sept. 12 meeting, ComEd representative Eric Duray promised specifically to work with residents living along Valley Stream Drive, some of whom suffered more than 85 hours of outages over the past year. Duray said company officials would set up a walk-through with residents and ComEd engineer to identify the cause of problems in the area.

Residents said some homeowners on the street struggle with excessive outages while other neighbors do not.

A meeting between ComEd and resident liaisons Bob and Alice Poulsen is planned for early this week. Bob Poulsen, who spoke at the Sept. 12 meeting, said liaisons were contacted last week and are reaching out to their neighbors to confirm the best time for as many people to be able to attend as possible.

ComEd also has agreed to return to a Wheeling village board meeting at a future date to address some of the issues raised by residents Sept. 12 and to talk about possible solutions.
