Ill. man sentenced to prison in deadly I-57 wreck
JONESBORO — A southern Illinois man has been sentenced to 8½ years in prison on a reckless homicide charge linked to a deadly wreck in March.
Twenty-eight-year-old Daniel Bible of Cobden was sentenced Tuesday in Union County, where he pleaded guilty in August.
Authorities say Bible caused a March 23 wreck when his vehicle hit a pickup truck towing a livestock trailer on Interstate 57. A passenger in the truck, 56-year-old James Smith of Anna, was killed, and two other occupants of that vehicle were injured.
Bible was indicted in April.
