UIC offering free tests, doc talks at health fair

Free blood pressure tests and other screenings are being offered during a health and education fair at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Tuesday's event is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UIC Forum on Roosevelt Road.

Measures of body mass index and diabetes tests also will be offered for free at the fair. So will cholesterol tests, but only for the first 25 people who fasted 12 hours before the event.

There will also be brief talks by physicians about health topics including diabetes, vaccines, birth control, breastfeeding and attention deficit disorders.

Informational booths on health topics will be set up, and people seeking a new primary care physician or specialist will have a chance to talk-one-on-one with doctors
