Libertyville, cops ink contract:

Libertyville police officers and the village have reached an agreement on a three-year contract. The contract, which covers 29 sworn personnel below the rank of sergeant expired April 30. The new pact, which runs through April 30, 2014, was reached with the help of a federal mediator. Terms include raises totaling 2 percent each year. New officers without experience will earn a lower “training wage” and a power shift will be introduced to more effectively train new officers while enhancing staffing during peak times, according to the village.
