Arlington Heights teen pleads guilty to vandalizing traffic monitoring device

One of three Arlington Heights teens who authorities say vandalized a police department radar trailer has pleaded guilty to the charges.

Nicholas Saegebrecht, 18, of the 1500 block of S. Yale, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to government supported property and was sentenced to the Cook County Sheriff's Department Impact Incarceration, also known as boot camp.

Prosecutors say Saegebrecht, who was on probation for possession of a controlled substance and robbery at the time, vandalized the trailer last month causing more than $500 to the device which tracks motorists' speed and was located near Heritage Park in Arlington Heights.

James Hannon, 18, of the 1000 block of N. Kaspar, and John Serola, 19, of the 800 block of N. Salem, were also charged. Their cases are pending.

Saegebrecht received credit for the 33 days he has spent in jail since his arrest. He was also ordered to pay $595 in fines.
