Aurora man struck by car charged with crime

A 41-year-old Aurora man who was struck by a car Tuesday night has been charged with being an intoxicated person in a roadway, police said Thursday.

Lawrence Strysik of the 600 block of South River Street was struck at 8:48 p.m. near New York Street and West Park Place in Aurora, police said.

Authorities said Strysik caused one vehicle to swerve to avoid him before he was hit by a second vehicle.

He also was charged with improper walking in a roadway and leaving a place of safety.

He was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center.
