Football field work to begin:

The Mundelein High School District 120 school board unanimously awarded a contact to D.K. Contractors, Inc. for $450,561 to start drainage work on the Mundelein High School football field. The contractor group is based in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. The 6-0 vote is the initial step to replace the grass field with artificial turf. Redoing the track around the field is also included in the project. Superintendent Jody Ware said the entire project should cost around $2.5 million. The drainage bid, however, was about $150,000 lower than the initial projection. Funding for the project was included in the $10 million voter referendum passed during the April municipal elections. Ware said a contractor to start work to replace the football field could be selected as early as late September.
