Hainesville ready to party Saturday

Music, beer, rides and more will be part of HainesvilleFest that runs from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Union Square Park.

Village trustees agreed to pay $5,700 to A-Awesome Amusements Co. for chairs, tents, tables, a “Berry-Go-Round” ride, large slide and other necessities for the community event. The total festival budget is $10,000.

Kicking off the fun at noon will be a community picnic, with a hamburger or hot dog or veggie burger, chips and a soft drink costing $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 7 to 12. Children 6 or younger can have a free frankfurter meal until 2 p.m.

Rides and amusements also will launch at noon and go until 4 p.m. The arts, crafts and vendor fair — along with the Great Age Club bingo tent — will run from noon to 5 p.m.

American Legion Post 1170 will host a beer tent from noon to 9 p.m., and a grill in the evening hours. A “wine knows” tent will operate from 4 to 9 p.m.

Music will be provided by the legendary Scotch Lads from 2 to 4 p.m. Jelly Bone Blues Band will entertain from 6 to 9 p.m. for what's billed as a Concert in the Park.

Last year's HainesvilleFest attracted about 200 visitors. There is no admission charge.
