Former police officer accused in death of mistress
RIVER FOREST — A former North Chicago police officer, his son and a third man have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of the ex-law officer’s mistress.
Authorities say 39-year-old Devin Bickham, his 20-year-old son Devin Bickham Jr., both of Blue Island, and 35-year-old Cardell Taylor of Chicago are accused in the shooting death of 29-year-old Chervon Alexander of Chicago.
River Forest Police Sgt. Mike Thornley said Thursday both the younger Bickham and Taylor confessed to the murder. Authorities say the woman was pressuring the older Bickham to divorce his wife and marry her.
Authorities say Bickham late Monday drove Alexander to a parking lot near Dominican University in River Forest, where Taylor allegedly shot her to death. The men were arrested shortly afterward as they fled the scene.
