Do something about bike path threats
The bike path along the Fox River is one of the Elgin area’s greatest assets. Sadly, once one is directly south of the riverboat, one must often run the gantlet through groups of belligerent drunks, gangbangers or otherwise disenfranchised teens.
These individuals will actually dare you to ride through or even around them, hurling offensive epithets all the while. These are not isolated incidents but occur on a regular basis.
Sadly, for those who live in Elgin it comes as no surprise, and for those just passing through it’s yet another reminder of why they’re glad not to live here.
