Pontiac woman dies after being struck by SUV
PONTIAC — Police in north-central Illinois are investigating the death of a 59-year-old woman who died after being hit by an SUV while walking in downtown Pontiac.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Carol Lynch of Pontiac died Saturday from injuries she suffered when she was hit Thursday afternoon.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that Lynch stepped off of the curb and into the path of a 2001 Ford Explorer.
Police say Lynch may have been talking on her cell phone just before she was struck.
Authorities haven't released the name of the SUV's 17-year-old driver.
