Barkhausen seeks county board seat:

Former state Sen. David Barkhausen has announced his candidacy for a seat in a newly created Lake County Board district. Barkhausen, 61, of Lake Bluff, intends to run the Republican primary in the spring. Along with being an attorney and financial consultant, Barkhausen is the Shields Township clerk. He was a state senator from 1981 to 1997. The new county board District 13 will include the HeatherRidge and Providence Villages and Oaks subdivisions in Gurnee, along with unincorporated Gages Lake and Wildwood.
