Aurora Christian rolls in regional opener
Alexandra Fry drilled six 3-pointers and scored 20 points leading Aurora Christian to a 54-23 win over Hinckley-Big Rock on Tuesday in the Class 1A Aurora Christian regional semifinals.
Megan Hart added 14 points and Tori Henning scored 11 for the Eagles (19-7), who will play Newark, a 66-20 winner over Mooseheart, for the regional title Friday.
Batavia 40, St. Charles East 33: The Bulldogs (16-11, 9-2 in the Upstate Eight River) swept the season series from the Saints behind 11 points from Geddy Rerko and 10 from Erin Golden. Rerko scored 7 of her points in the fourth quarter.
Sara Rosenfeldt led the Saints (13-12, 6-5) with 15 points and Ashley DiOrio scored 8.
Geneva 74, Elgin 18: The Vikings (23-3, 11-0) moved within a win of a perfect Upstate Eight River season led by Maddy Yelle with 15 points, Brittany Caskey with 11 points and Stephanie Hart with 10.
St. Charles North 51, Larkin 33: Anna Tate scored 16 points and Anna Davern added 15 for the North Stars.
Burlington Central 67, Woodstock 26: After a slow start when it trailed 10-4 after the first quarter, the Rockets (25-3, 10-1) outscored Woodstock 26-9 in the second quarter and 15-0 in the third on the way to an easy Kishwaukee River Conference win. Kathryn Schmidt led Burlington with 20 points and Elana Wells added 16.
