Authorities: Man drowns in western Illinois lake
MENDON — Authorities in western Illinois say a man drown while fishing at Whispering Oaks Campground near Mendon.
The Adams County Sheriff's Department says the man tried to swim across the lake around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, went under but did not resurface.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that dive teams from the area recovered the body around 10 p.m. Sunday.
Adams County Coroner James Keller will release the name of the victim after family members have been notified.
