Why life is better north of the border

There were thousands of cars, campers, SUVs, pickup trucks and recreational vehicles headed north into Wisconsin July 1 for the Fourth of July weekend, and any of theses vehicles that needed fuel along the way were warmly welcomed by gasoline and fuel prices that were 30 to 40 cents a gallon less than what was being charged in the great state of Illinois.

This certainly softened the blow to travelers on their way to catch the big muskie or water ski in the land of cheddar.

And my goodness, then there were all these legal fireworks stands that dotted the landscape selling real fireworks, unlike the sparklers, smoke-balls and pop-it rocks we have at Illinois firework stands aka Jewel-Osco.

And then there was another blessing, once a vehicle got out of Illinois after being on I-90 and I-94, there were no more tolls to pay and driving was free.
