Dundee park district is hosting 5K, Fun Runs

There is nothing like a little exercise to begin your day, and Father's Day is no exception.

With that in mind, the Dundee Township Park District is hosting a 5K Race Sunday, June 19. The 5K Run, which will begin at 8 a.m., costs $20 in advance or $25 the day of the race.

In addition, there will be 1 mile and half-mile Fun Runs for children ages 4-11.

The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 8:45 a.m., with the half-mile fun run at 9 a.m. Both cost $10 in advance, $15 the day of the run.

Registration for both the 5K Race and Fun Runs closes Thursday, June 16. No further registration will be accepted until the day of the race.

The race will start at the Depot in East Dundee, wind through the surrounding neighborhood streets and onto the Fox River Bike trail. Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners and to the top three men's and women's winners in each age category.

Spectators are encouraged to view the race from along the course and greet the winners at the finish line at The Depot in East Dundee. Volunteers to help with the race are also needed.
