Why do some taxing bodies still exist?
Smaller government is all the rage these days. So imagine my surprise to recently learn that the Northwest Kane Airport Authority still exists.
And imagine my shock to learn that the new board wants to give taxpayer dollars to a private airport; and to learn that at least one board member, Dale Dopkins, wants to extend the life of this board.
This board needs to go out of existence now. Refund its cash to the taxpayers, and let the private airports operate as they always have — as private concerns.
It’s a small step, but a good one toward eliminating one more needless unit of local government.
