Run/walk July 4 for Lazarus House

Registration is open and sponsorships are available for the July 4th Great Western Freedom 4 Run/Walk to benefit Lazarus House. The event begins at 8 a.m. Monday, July 4, at the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W370 Dean St. in St. Charles.

The run is a competitive, four-mile CARA Certified race on a USATF certified course and on the Fox River Trail Runners Circuit. A new event feature is a two-mile walk. All participants also are encouraged to collect pledges for Lazarus House.

Preregistration fee is $20 for the race, $15 for the walk. There’s a $3 preregistration discount to CARA and Fox River Trail members. Event day registration is an additional $6, or $5 with a donation of napkins, toilet paper or paper towels.

Sponsorships start as low as $100 and will include a business listing on the race shirt.

All proceeds benefit Lazarus House, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides emergency shelter, transitional living and rental/utility assistance to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and are connected to St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia or western rural Kane County.
