We’re too broke for high speed rail
The state of Illinois, we are told, is broke. There is no money for all the pension funds, which are $84 billion in the hole. Man, that’s a lot of zeros. But wait! The Mighty Quinn has the answer. Raise taxes. Oh yes, and now he wants to spend several million dollars on a study for high speed rail to St. Louis. Now this thing could cost billions of dollars to build, and how many people go to St. Louis every day that the cost is worth it? It seems to me Quinn is zero happy.
