District 62 board member resigns
Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board member Ray Imig, 74, has resigned “to pursue other community endeavors,” district spokeswoman Mindy Ward said Wednesday.
Imig spent 28 years in public education as a mathematics teacher in Park Ridge schools. He works full time as an intake manager at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines.
“He is continuing his paid position. He is just going to cut back on some of the volunteer work,” Ward said.
A school board member since 2005, Imig was the community relations liaison for the board and also served on the District 62 Education Foundation. Imig’s current term expires in 2013.
Anyone appointed to the vacant seat will serve out the remainder of Imig’s term. Eligible candidates must live within the school district’s boundaries, be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, U.S. citizen and not a registered sex offender.
Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and a one-page resume to the District 62 administration office, 777 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60016. The deadline to submit applications is 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16.
