Aurora University to host Basic Skills review

Aurora University will host a series of review sessions to prepare students for the Illinois State Board of Education Basic Skills Test. The public is invited to the series, which is sponsored by the AU College of Education. Admission is free to AU students and alumni; $25 for others.

The review schedule:

타 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, — Math I on geometry, statistics, graphing, combined skills, and Math II on word problems, proportions, pre-algebra skills, algebra and logic will be reviewed in Room 202 in the Institute for Collaboration, 407 S. Calumet Ave.

타 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, June 27, — Reading comprehension will be reviewed in Room 202 in the Institute for Collaboration.

타 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, — Language arts will be reviewed in Room 202 in the Institute for Collaboration.

타 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, — Writing will be reviewed in Room 202 in the Institute for Collaboration.

Reviews include instruction, practice problems and handout materials. The goal of the sessions is to build confidence and reduce anxiety.

Education and social work majors who plan to work in public school systems are required to pass the five-hour Basic Skills Test to be certified.

Workshop attendees are requested to bring the online Basic Skills Test study guide, available on the Illinois Certification Testing System website, www.icts.nesinc.com.

Also available on the ICTS website are study guides for other tests administered through ICTS and a practice test to prepare for the Basic Skills test.
