Big grill coming to Elk Grove festival

The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill — the world’s largest touring grill — will roll into Elk Grove Village on June 15 for Rotaryfest.

The semitruck-sized grill weighs 53,000 pounds and measures 65 feet long, 20 feet high and 6 feet in diameter.

It has the ability to hold up to 10 grillers, preparing 750 brats at a time or 2,500 brats an hour.

Rotaryfest visitors will be able to buy Johnsonville Brats, fresh off the Big Taste Grill, with proceeds benefiting the Rotary Club of Elk Grove.

Since it was first introduced in 1995 as part of Johnsonville Sausage’s 50th anniversary celebration, the Big Taste Grill has helped raise more than $3 million for charitable groups and organizations throughout North America.

Rotaryfest is June 15-19 at Lions Park next to Elk Grove High School. Fest hours are 6-10 p.m. June 15-16; 6-11 p.m. June 17; 2-11 p.m. June 18 and 2-9 p.m. June 19.
