Dolphin born at Shedd
Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium has a new resident: a newborn dolphin.
The aquarium says its Pacific white-sided dolphin named Tique gave birth to the calf on Friday morning.
The aquarium reports that the calf quickly swam to the surface and began to swim around the Secluded Bay habitat with Tique. Both mother and calf — whose gender has yet to be determined — are doing well.
The calf is the result of a trip by the 26-year-old Tique to the Miami Seaquarium to mate with a male dolphin there named Lii.
