1 acquitted in fatal ground zero fire

NEW YORK — A construction company supervisor has been acquitted of manslaughter and all other charges in a blaze that killed two firefighters at a condemned bank tower at ground zero.

Jurors delivered their verdict Tuesday for Salvatore DePaola. The jury is still deliberating for Jeffrey Melofchik and the judge hasn't yet rendered a verdict for a third defendant and the company.

The August 2007 fire at the former Deutsche Bank building killed firefighters Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino. The blaze spotlighted poor oversight of the building. It was being taken down after being damaged and contaminated on 9/11.
