Early votes due Thursday in Kane

Voters have less than a week to cast early ballots for the Nov. 2 election.

In Kane County, 10,845 people have done so as of late Friday, according to the Kane County Clerk's office.

Overall, 12,202 people have either voted early, voted during the grace period or requested absentee or military ballots, County Clerk Jack Cunningham said.

Cunningham said fears that a delay in sending out the military ballots would prohibit those voters from being able to vote on time are proving to be unwarranted. Although the clerk sent the ballots a day late, the office is already receiving returned ballots from as far away as Afghanistan, he said.

There are 214,479 registered voters in Kane County and more than 38,000 in the area are handled by the Aurora Election Commission.
